Location

Bhangal, Kathmandu

About 75 km north of Kathmandu, can be reached directly from the capital, or from Langtang, either via Gosainkund or across the Ganja La Pass. This ten day trek to Helambu is popular because it is short, stays below 3,500m and is feasible all winter. The Gosainkund lake situated here is a much revered Hindu pilgrimage site. This trek offers baffling extremes in topography and climate conditions.

The major inhabitants of the Helambu valley are Sherpas, but their culture and dress are different from that in the Solu Khumbu. Culturally the area is mixed; the home of several groups including Tamang and Sherpa people.

You can combine both Langtang and Gosainkund Helambu into a single trek of 14 days.
